A CTAF is a frequency designated for the purpose of carrying out airport advisory practices while operating to or from an airport without an operating control tower. The acronym CTAF, which stands for Common Traffic Advisory Frequency, is synonymous with this program. The key to communications at an airport without an operating control tower is selection of the correct common frequency. Understanding Communication on a Common Frequency Here is an example of the radio frequency information on the Legend in the Testing Supplement: Although much of the information provided here is geared toward manned aircraft pilots, the UA pilot needs to understand the unique way information is exchanged in the NAS. Through radio communications that pilots give and receive information before, during and at theĪlthough small UA pilots are not expected to communicate over radio frequencies, it is important for the UA pilot to understand “aviation language” and the different conversations they will encounter if the UA pilot is using a radio to aid them in situational awareness when operating in the NAS. Radio communications are an important aspect for the safe operation of aircraft in the NAS. Understanding Communication on a Common Frequency. Thanks for a great app and thanks to everyone who provides feeds to the system. This probably means a bigger change but it would be helpful. But would love to be able to enter a flight number and find what channel the flight is on.Ĥ) In the feed frequency page, it would be great to know if feeds are mixed, or if a stereo split then which feed is in which ear. This doesn’t need the description- just a comma separated list of frequencies.Ģ) Would be great to have more than airport diagram linked, but also departure/arrival/approach plates.ģ)This one is tougher and not sure it’s possible. ![]() When listening to the feed there is a list.
